VALDOSTA - A Valdosta man was robbed at gun point last night at the Woodstone apartment complex. Investigators say it was an electronics purchase gone bad.
According to police, the victim and the suspect had previously talked on the phone and arranged to meet at the complex where he planned to purchase electronics. Upon arrival, the two men jumped the victim and assaulted him with a gun, then stole his wallet. VPD says robberies like this can be avoided.
"Be careful what you try and purchase on the street. Most of the time, like I said, a resonable person should be able to assume that's stolen property. No one is going to come up to you on the street and say 'Hey, do you want to buy a laptop computer?' I'm not sure how much they were trying to sell these for but usually if it sounds like a great deal, usually that means it's probably stolen", says Lt. Aaron Kirk of the Valdosta Police Department.
The suspect is still on the loose. VPD says their investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this incident is urded to call the Valdosta Police Department.
