"This is an unusual case because typically in a case like this they just want the money," said Lt. Aaron Kirk of the Valdosta Police Department.
Police said the suspect walked into the Murphy Express, looking around, before pulling a knife on the clerk. She then gave him the money, but he grabbed her and forced her inside his truck, and drove a just few blocks away.
When he stopped at the intersection she escaped by opening the door and ran to the Stucky's convenient store to get help.
"Turns out the vehicle was actually stolen from the Homerville area of Clinch County so we believe he was probably from that area and probably going back to that area," said Lt. Kirk with the Valdosta Police Department.
The suspect was driving a blue Ford Ranger Pickup truck and is being described as an African-American male, 6-foot 200 pounds, wearing a cap, short black sleeved shirt with a white long sleeved shirt underneath.
