During the recent Georgia Sheriff’s Association summer conference, held in Augusta, Georgia, Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine was elected by his fellow Sheriffs as the Secretary-Treasurer for the 2013-2014 year.
The Georgia Sheriff’s Association was formed in 1957 and has maintained its mission of promoting and further professionalize the Office of the Sheriff and enhance public safety throughout Georgia. The association is comprised of Georgia’s 159 elected sheriffs.
Since its beginning, the Georgia Sheriff’s Association has provided annual training events for Georgia sheriffs and employees and other crime prevention programs.
The association, through its sheriffs has sponsored the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes, which provides full-time residential care for the abused, abandoned and neglected children in the state.
Sheriff Prine has expressed how honored and humbled he is by this election and looks forward to serving not only the Georgia Sheriff’s Association but also the citizens of Lowndes County.
