UPDATE 1/07/11 at 4:56 p.m. --

Three locations -- Home Depot, Mathis Auditorium and Walmart on Perimeter Road -- will be "Bringing One for the Chipper."

That means until the end of the day Saturday, anyone can drop off wilted trees to make sure they don't clog local landfills.

By disposing trees properly, they'll be chipped into much or used for wildlife habitat.

An organization, known as Keep Lowndes-Valdosta Beautiful, has launched its 19th annual Bring One for the Chipper event.

Six locations are set-up to encourage citizens to properly dispose of their Christmas trees.

Anyone who drops off a tree on January 8 will get a free sapling to replant.

"A neat thing for citizens to participate in because that allows them to take home a tree seedling and plant that to kind of replace the tree that was cut down for their holiday enjoyment," said Aaron Strickland, the executive director of Keep Lowndes-Valdosta Beautiful.

Officials encourage citizens to drop-off their Christmas trees at the following six locations until January 7.
- Valdosta YMCA - 242 Gornto Rd.
- Lowndes County Industrial Blvd. Recycling Center - 345 Gil Harbin Blvd.)
- City of Hahira - Corner of Lawson and North Lowndes Sts.)

And at the following three locations until January 8.
* The sapling giveaway will only be at the locations below*
- Home Depot on Norman Drive
- Mathis Auditorium on North Ashley St.
- Walmart on Perimeter Rd.
