Valdosta, Georgia - May 7, 2011
The Valdosta Fire Department set-up outside Walmart in Valdosta and four other locations for its annual Give Burns the Boot event.
All money raised goes to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
The fundraiser is part of a nationwide effort to help burn victims in Georgia get the medical help they need.
"It shows that you can kinda get help in your community," says Theo Johnson, a Valdosta firefighter at station 6. "Like if someone got burnt in the house fire or something, you can just give back and show that you care."
There are two major burn centers in Georgia: one in Augusta and another in Atlanta.
Last year, the Give Burns the Boot event raised about $14,000 in Valdosta.
