Valdosta, GA - Valdosta’s Housing Authority this week announced plans for a state-of-the-art surveillance system that will allow security personnel to access high-definition, street-level camera footage from any networked PC, including laptops.
Initial plans involve installation of 20, IP-based pan/tilt/zoom cameras over a robust wireless network.
“We have a proud history of providing safe, affordable housing in South Georgia, and the new surveillance system will help
us to further that mission,” said Mark Stalvey, Executive Director of the Valdosta Housing Authority. “Iron Sky’s map-based surveillance solution gives us another important tool to reduce crime and protect our residents.”
The Iron Sky system delivers high-definition footage to security officials with two clicks of a mouse, enhancing public safety in and around Hudson Dockett Homes. The system will integrate existing surveillance cameras in Ora Lee Homes and the Mildred Hunter Community Center onto one, easy-to-use, network-based platform.
Iron Sky’s use of off-the-shelf network hardware and standards-based, open architecture design principles also will enable the Valdosta Housing Authority to integrate existing surveillance devices on one browser-based portal — and add new cameras at virtually any location. Authorized users will be able to access any camera from any networked PC, which helps maximize resources. Recorded camera footage also will facilitate post-incident investigation, helping authorities resolve cases quickly.
“Iron Sky is working closely with law enforcement officials in Georgia to create better tools to fight crime,” said Bob Carter, General Manager of Iron Sky. “As a force multiplier, it truly delivers. We are proud to introduce this system to Valdosta’s Housing Authority, and look forward to working with them to create the best solution possible.”
Iron Sky’s surveillance solution is currently at work in Atlanta’s Historic Westside Village, Midtown Atlanta, College Park, Hapeville, Lilburn and Valdosta.
