A hurricane briefing is being conducted by Lowndes County Emergency Management on June 9 at 10:00 a.m. The briefing will take place at the Lowndes County Emergency Operations Center, just off of Highway 84 East-behind the Civic Center.
In addition to local planning information, attendees will be provided an overview of the forecast for this year's season by a representative from the Tallahassee division of the National Weather Service. This will be the first time a meteorologist has come to Lowndes County to report to responders in this format.
All local governments, agencies, school systems, utilities, hospitals, etc. have been invited so there will be plenty of people available to provide additional specifics regarding planning and response.
