Teenager Arrested for Murder After Body Found on Railroad Tracks

-- Valdosta, Ga. -- April 13, 2012 -- 8:35pm --

Valdosta Police have made an arrest in the murder of Timothy McKinney. Eyewitness News Reporter Eames Yates spoke to the victims family.

The victim's older sister, Laverne McKinney, said "My daughter woke me up and said they found a body not knowing it was my baby brother they found laying on that track."

She went on to recall the moment she knew her brother had died saying "when the detective came and showed me a picture... [cries] That was my baby brother."

The victim's older brother, Craig McKinney, said "I hate they did what they did to my brother. I hate that. I really do. And it hurt me to my heart to see the way that my brother had died."

Rizer is accused of shooting McKinney to death. A serious accusation for someone just 19 years old.

Lieutenant Aaron Kirk of the Valdosta Police Department said "unfortunately we do have a lot of young adults that are involved in criminal activity so it's not really a surprise to me that we do see him that age."

Rizer is currently being held here at the Lowndes County Jail. He has been denied bond.

He was arrested without incident in the 1300 block of Ponderosa Drive.

If we need to be on the lookout for someone (whether for crime or if I'm just picking someone up at the airport), please give me a description of them based on what they look like - white, black, pale, tan, freckles, huge nose, etc. Otherwise race should not even be reported as an issue. I don't leave my job each day thinking, "I served 3 black people, 5 white people and 2 hispanic people today" i think "I served 10 people today." If I am telling a story about something that happened, I may say, "You know, the tall black guy that was sitting by the wall," or "the white guy that came about 3," but it doesn't have any other "hidden" meaning besides being a description. As a white person, it would be nice if I could tell a story in this way without worrying if people think I am racist because I said the word "black".

White suspects are called Caucasians, but majority of them are not from the area of the Caucasus Mountains, where the term originated.

The term Caucasian race (also Caucasoid, Europid, or Europoid[1]) has been used to denote the general physical type of some or all of the populations of Europe, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, Western Asia (the Middle East), Central Asia and South Asia.[2] Historically, the term has been used to describe many peoples from these regions, without regard necessarily to skin tone.[3]

Caucasian the term originated in the caucasus mountains, but it has nothing to do with nationality or region. It is a race, just like being "black" is a race. It has to do with certain features. Indians (from India) are Caucasian, although most don't look "white". I agree "black" may not be politically correct, but "African American" can also insinuate that the person is from Africa. Maybe there should be the "Caucasian" race and the "Mesopotamian" race and whatever else. Maybe we should also throw in Neanderthals, even though we think they died out. I REALLY THINK PEOPLE SHOULD STOP WORRYING ABOUT IT! WHO CARES!
