The Valdosta-Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority held a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning for the grand opening of its new tennis courts.
The facility, which costs $750,000, is now expanded from eight to 12 courts.
It's a city-funded project and was paid for with Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.
"There's always been a big demand for tennis in the city of Valdosta," said
David Christian, with the Valdosta-Lowndes Park and Recreation Authority. "This expands the use of our courts for the citizens of Valdosta and Lowndes County."
Valdosta's new tennis center opens today.
