VPD says they've received reports from folks in the area saying someone identifying themselves as law enforcement in Canada is contacting them by telephone and telling them a family member has been arrested and they need the victim to send money to bail them out.
Officers say the victims found out it was a scam and are asking that residents be leery of these phone calls.
The elderly are typically the ones targeted. VPD says they just want people to beware of the scam.
