Community agencies and citizens gathered for the City of Valdosta's annual Neighborhood Development Housing Summit on Thursday.
Some of the topics discussed were rentals, housing for senior citizens and options for the homeless.
It was an opportunity for everyone to learn about different housing programs in the area and ways to revitalize dilapidated neighborhoods.
"What we're trying to do with our Community Development Block Grant dollars is to rehab or reconstruct these in-fill houses," says
Sabrina Riley-Randolph, the neighborhood development coordinator. "So that people will bring up their neighborhoods."
So far, Valdosta's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) has helped rehabilitate more than forty homes.
For more information about these programs, call the City of Valdosta at (229) 671-3617.
