Weekend Fire at Valdosta Night Club Classified as Arson

A local night club destroyed by fire has been classified as arson.

The fire that has shutdown Club Vegas on Highway 84 West was an act of arson. That's according to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded to the fire around 11:45 AM on Saturday September 15th.

According to the Sheriff's Office-- samples of tiles from the club proved that it was an act of arson after they were tested at the Valdosta Crime Lab.

They also used a canine unit to verifty that the fire was intentionally set. A reward of up to $10 thousand dollars is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Mark Maskule, LCSO Detective: "There's currently no leads at this time and there's definitely no suspects at this time. There are some people that I would still like to talk to, mainly the witnesses that called the smoke in and see if they're able to provide any further additional information other than what they provided to us at the scene."

The exact manner in which the fire was started is being withheld in order to protect the ongoing investigation. A reward of up to ten thousand dollars is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the persons responsible for the fire.

A weekend fire at a Valdosta night club is now being classified as arson, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. The fire broke out on Saturday 6/15 around 11:45AM.

The Lowndes County Fire Department put out the fire at the club on Highway 84 West after receiving a tip from an anonymous caller.

No injuries were reported.
