Thomasville, GA- Thomasville Police arrested 55-year-old Sharlene Steadman Monday after an investigation showed she stole more than $54,000 from Dixon's Pest Services in Thomasville.
Investigators say Steadman was an employee at Dixon's when inconsistencies started popping up in the business's financial books.
That's when the store's owner turned to authorities.
A forensic audit and further investigation led to Steadman's arrest.
"She would alter the books and write checks above the amount than what she was getting paid for," said Lt. Wade Glover with the Thomasville Police Department.
According to police, the investigation showed thefts dating back to October 2010.
Steadman is charged with felony theft by taking.
