CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- A 24-year-old woman is hospitalized after being shot in the face in a hotel room in Cartersville, just northwest of Atlanta.
A witness described the shooting, which happened around 5:45 a.m. Saturday, as an accident.
The witness told Cartersville police that he was in a room at the Courtesy Inn when a man was showing off a black pistol. A police report states the woman said "you couldn't shoot anybody," and the man responded, "yea I will, I'll shoot you," then jokingly put the gun in the woman's face. The witness said the woman grabbed the gun and it went off.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/1dNQiEW) that the woman was flown by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and was in critical but stable condition Saturday night.
