Woman Arrested for Animal Cruelty Charged with Theft

Thomasville -- A woman charged with animal cruelty last week for the way she treated her horses has been arrested again.

Rebecca Bannister and her husband, Richard, have now been charged with felony theft in both Thomas and Grady county.

The two are accused of receiving and taking stolen property. Deputies say gates and fences were taken from their former property in Grady County, and used at the farm in Thomas County.

"We knew the items were there because we had seen them the day we recovered the horses, went down yesterday with the Grady County Sheriff's Office with a detailed list of the items taken, and were able to recover those items and take them back to the Grady County Sheriff's Office," said Lt. Tim Watkins of the Thomas County Sheriff's Office.

Rebecca Bannister was arrested at the couple's farm last week. Nearly 100 animals were seized, some were suffering from severe malnutrition.

Be careful when you advertise tack and horse equipment for sale. Mrs. Bannister tells you she wants something, then never responds and when she does has one excuse after another. Says she is moving to Alabama (so she could not make payment) and lots of her tack was stolen. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PERSON - UNLESS YOU GET YOUR MONEY.

It"s about time these people have been cheating and stealing from people in this area for years, and have never been brought to justice. This is how the operate and survive is off other people. And you ask how I know this? I know this becouse I was one of ther victims. Bannister has no idea what it means to tell the truth, I really think she believes all the lies she comes up with and always to benifit her. I really believe that what goes around comes around, and I really hope justice is done this time the sake of the good people they have cheated and stollen from.

Just a warning - she is trying to buy tack from advertisers on horse related sites - saying she wants the item, then gives excuses why she hasn't had time to pay. By phone and email she sounds likeable and sincere. But do not sell her anything without getting your money first (DO NOT ACCEPT A CHECK).
