In South Georgia - Valdosta State and the South Health District teamed up to raise awareness for World AIDS day.
Health officials offered free HIV tests and passed out condoms because unprotected sex is the most common was of contracting the disease.
"The best way to prevent that is to know your partner's status and to not have anonymous partners but also use condoms consistently and correctly every time that you have sex with someone," said January Smith, one of the event coordinators.
Officials say World AIDS day is only once a year but AIDS awareness is something people should be thinking about everyday.
