The YMCA in Thomasville hosted its annual event - National Play Date . Organizers said it's a great way for parents to emphasize the importance of staying healthy and being active. Kids took part in drum classes, gymnastics and even stopped by a food booth to learn about healthy snacks.

"If we teach our kids at an early age to be active they're gonna grow up as active adults Georgia is ranked number 2 in childhood obesity," said YMCA Director Kim Smith.

April 16th marks the nation's largest health day for families.
