ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Police have identified a couple who died in
an apparent murder-suicide and whose bodies were discovered by
their 9-year-old son.
Athens-Clarke police Capt. Clarence Holeman says 35-year-old Harry Marable shot his wife, Phyllis, and then himself in the couple's bedroom Friday.
Police say their son, who turned 10 the next day, thought his parents were sleeping in and didn't check on them until about 6 p.m.
Police believe the child did not see the shootings because he was playing outside much of the day.
Friday was a school holiday.
The boy is staying with his grandmother.
Holeman says police have responded to domestic calls involving
the couple in the past.
He did not elaborate.
