ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a Lakeland man drove a car with a body in the trunk onto the Sunshine Skyway bridge near
St. Petersburg, set the vehicle on fire and jumped to his death.
Lakeland Police identified 38-year-old Robert Laird on Tuesday as the man whose body was pulled from Tampa Bay on Monday afternoon.
Police have not identified the person found in the trunk of the burning car.
Firefighters reported that the body was burned so badly that it would take an autopsy just to determine the gender.
Authorities have confirmed that evidence of a homicide was found
at the Lakeland home of Laird's ex-wife Monday.
She has not been seen since Monday morning.
Court records show that Robert and Sheryl Lynn Laird divorced in
