APOLLO BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- An Apollo Beach man accused of setting
his estranged wife on fire has been charged with attempted
first-degree murder.

Christopher Hanney was booked into Hillsborough County's Orient
Road Jail on Wednesday night.

A Hillsborough Circuit judge ordered the 44-year-old Hanney be held without bail on Thursday.

A hearing was scheduled for Tuesday.

His wife remains hospitalized in critical condition.

According to a news release, Hanney doused his wife in a flammable liquid, hit her on the head with a hammer and set her on fire.

The woman ran from her home to a neighbor's house and said
that her husband had set the fire.

Both Hanney and his wife were taken to hospitals for burn treatment.

I hope The woman whose child turned up dead and the man who set the woman on fire get exaxtly what they deserve. By the way, may I compliment you on your choice of nicknames, at least I hope they're nicknames. You two obviously saved two good people.

if they were estranged, maybe he was looking at the possibility of having to pay spousal or child support. Some guys don't like the idea of having to do that. But trying to burn her alive is waaay extreme.

It could only take a man to deduce that because a woman was set on fire that it had to be her fault. It couldn't possibly be because the guy was a lunatic from the get-go. Way to go "thugdaddy".
