A six-year-old boy is dead and investigators say his 11-year-old playmate pulled the trigger.

The shooting happened in Thomas County and appears accidental, but investigators won’t know for sure until an autopsy is released tomorrow morning.

We now know a rifle owned by the 11-year-old's father is the weapon investigators believe ended Elrui Jacob's life.

No charges have been filed in connection with the shooting but family members have a plea to all gun owners.

"Parents need to be a little more careful with these things because firearms are very dangerous for everyone in the arms of a child," said Rosendo Belasco, the victim's uncle.

Investigators tell us Elrui and his friend were playing with a bb gun before the fatal shooting occurred.

The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.

I HAVE A 7 YEAR OLD AND A 5 YEAR OLD AND WE HAVE GUNS IN A GUN CABNET AND THEY ARE ALL EMPTY AND THE SHELLS ARE NOWHERE AROUND THE GUNS. THEY ARE IN ANOTHER PLACE OUR CHILDREN CAN'T GET TO. IF YOU HAVE GUNS, KEEP IT SAFE FOR YOUR CHILDREN.

what is wrong with parents keeping guns around where children can get a hold of them. I think the parents should pay and be put in jail
