A six-year-old boy is dead and investigators say his 11-year-old playmate pulled the trigger.
The shooting happened in Thomas County and appears accidental, but investigators won’t know for sure until an autopsy is released tomorrow morning.
We now know a rifle owned by the 11-year-old's father is the weapon investigators believe ended Elrui Jacob's life.
No charges have been filed in connection with the shooting but family members have a plea to all gun owners.
"Parents need to be a little more careful with these things because firearms are very dangerous for everyone in the arms of a child," said Rosendo Belasco, the victim's uncle.
Investigators tell us Elrui and his friend were playing with a bb gun before the fatal shooting occurred.
The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.
