Members of the Wausau Garden Club observed Veterans Day with a long-standing tradition. They held a Blue Star Memorial Highway Dedication Ceremony.
The history of the Blue Star dates back to World War II. It's a way for the nation's garden clubs to honor our service men and women. Yesterday dozens of Washington County residents met in Wausau for the unveiling of their Blue Star Memorial plaque along Highway 77.
"Teachers in the school teaching their kids, and let them study a little American history," said David Rogers, a Vietnam Veteran.
"The younger generation has to be aware, but the older people need to pass it on," said Inga Ross a member of the Wausau Garden Club
"Just staying active on the holiday," said Brandon Williams, a Junior ROTC member.
