The mayor of Kandahar, Afghanistan is dead following a suicide bomb attack Wednesday.
The Taliban claims it planned the attack.
State officials say Ghulam Haidar died while at a city hall meeting in the provincial capital.
The suicide attacker reportedly placed an explosive device in his turban and detonated it inside the city meeting hall.
One civilian was also injured in the attack.
It's the second time in less than two weeks a senior official was assassinated.
