The Georgia Forestry Association has named Janet Kent as its 2011 Outstanding Educator of the Year award for her work with the Project Learning Tree.

The programs is geared toward raising students' awareness about the understanding of the environment.

"It's really exciting because it's something I enjoy doing and it's something I do regardless and always getting recognized for something you enjoy doing is kind of like icing on the cake," says Kent.

Kent will be presented with her award on July 16Th.
