COCOA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A 10-year-old girl is recovering after being bitten by a shark in the waters off central Florida.
Officials said the unidentified girl was swimming in knee-deep water Saturday in Cocoa Beach when the shark bit her right leg. She was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.
WFTV reports the beach was closed after the attack but has since reopened.
