The 8th Annual Capital Regional Medical Center Chili Cook-off was held this morning in the hospital's cafeteria.

Eight contestants mixed their best ingredients to benefit the American Heart Association and annual Heartwalk, and for bragging rights as one of Tallahassee's chili connoisseurs.

WCTV's very own Elton Gumbel was the celebrity judge and enjoyed a few helpings before deciding on his personal favorite.

"Heart disease is a major killer and basically there are so many things that people can do to help prevent or decrease their risk of heart disease," said Curtis Varner, Respiratory Care Services Director for Capital Regional Medical Center.

Organizers say they typically bring in around $250 from this event.
