In less than two weeks, the Leon County Commission will swear-in the commissioners elect. Two are re-elected, Ed Depuy is newly elected.

Ed Depuy will be a new yet familiar face on the Leon County Commission come November 16.

"It's more ceremonial. Tony Grippa and Jane Sauls will also be sworn in. Shortly there after we will start to get down to business," says Depuy.

His face is familiar. Depuy was appointed by the governor to the commission after Rudy Maloy was removed during a harassment trial back in July 2001. Also, in 1996 Depuy ran and lost for Leon County sheriff, but he took the loss with grace and still has plans for the Sheriff's Office.

"We want to make sure the men and women want to stay. We want to make it competitive for salaries so they stay here with their families," adds Depuy.

After winning a six-person race for the at large seat with 55 percent of the vote, he has something to say to the people of Leon County. Depuy says he believes the people trust him and he's ready to get to work November 16.

Depuy will be replacing Commissioner Rudy Maloy. Depuy says that he has a full plate between closing the landfill and working on making Tallahassee more business friendly.
