After spending eight years on the job, Gadsden County commissioners opted to terminate the county manager just a few days shy of Christmas, and he wasn't the only one. Commissioners also asked the attorney for his resignation.
‘Tis the season to be jolly, but not for Gadsden County's manager and attorney. Both men are no longer employed by the county.
County commissioners say they are now looking for individuals to help them move the rural area to newer heights.
Brenda Holt, Gadsden County Commissioner, says, "The majority of the county commissioners felt that it was time for a philosophical change, and we felt in order to get ready for the rapid growth of the county we needed to change our direction and get people that are experienced in those areas.
Commissioners say in the past few years the rural community has become stagnant. Now they're hoping to bring in a county manager with more expertise to the area.
Brenda adds, "We want to have people experienced in the business world that can go out and help the county manager in that area, in the area of growth and development and there are attorneys that specialize in that area, larger law firms and that kind of things."
Things like creating infrastructure to attract more hotels and business to the community.
County commissioners hope to have their replacements in the next few months.
