You can be there in just two-and-a-half hours, and that's exactly what passengers did Monday morning as Delta started non-stop service to JFK.
Lars Tragardh, who is off to New York, says, "Before it used to be an ordeal; five hours, missed flights, layovers, so it's great!"
Lars and his fellow fliers boarded the 50-seat CanadAir regional jet and lifted off the tarmac right on time at 6:25 a.m.
Delta will have two direct flights to New York daily at 6:25 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Non-stop flights from the “Big Apple” to Tallahassee arrive at 12:15 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.
One local businessman says he intends to hop a future flight.
John Lentz says, "I've been very excited about it. It's difficult to get to New York going through Atlanta or Cincinnati, and having a direct flight to New York is great."
A local Delta employee originally from New York says she could become a customer too!
Helene Bennett says, "I've had all my family calling about it. Today's the first day, and they expect me to be there already."
The cost of the new round-trip from Tallahassee to New York and back is $238.
