Mobile Home Residents Shocked Over Rezoning Notice

Estella Dyer is leaving behind more than just memories from the past five years at Lot 56. She also leaves a neighborhood she and her family have grown attached to.

Estella says, "It's close to everything, close to schools, walking distance to everything. We're not sure if we're moving our trailer due to finances and just having to find another place."

Magdaline Buff, a resident, adds, "I don't know how I feel. I'm so pleased the place is improving, but I don't want to move, I like it here."

Town Place mobile home park will soon close. In its place come several multi-family residential housing units.

The manger of Town Place says no one is being forced out. He says the construction of the homes won't start until his tenants have found a new place to live.

Bernie Shepard, the manager, says, "Anyone living here has plenty of time to move. It should be five or six months, maybe more. We're still renting to people if they need short-term."

Tenants say there's not much they can do about the situation but pack up their things.

Dyer says, "I'm hoping to find something close by. I'm not upset. I'm over the upset stage. A lot of tears have been shed. I'm just waiting it out."

Dyer says she's hoping things work out for the best.
