Thomasville Groups Gear Up for Community Christmas Dinner

The Thomasville Community Resource Center is getting ready to serve on Christmas day.

A classic holiday activity is singing Christmas carols while hanging Christmas decorations. The candy canes and handmade ornaments spruce things up a bit for a big Christmas dinner with some special guests in mind.

Nakeyah Marshall of the Thomasville Community Resource Center says, "People [don’t] have any family and people [don’t] have any food, and they're lonely."

Andrew Parker of the Thomasville Community Resource Center adds, "So we decorate stuff at TCRC for the people to try and have a good Christmas."

Most of the decorating will be done ahead of the big day, but many of these kids will return Saturday to help spirited volunteers create a family atmosphere so lonely Rose City citizens won't have be alone Christmas day.

Liz Crockett, the executive director of TCRC, says, "I'm really looking forward to just being able to do something instead of sitting home by myself and being able to give something back to the community that has given so much to me."

Crockett says they do need volunteers, especially ones skilled in the kitchen. The meal is set to be served at 2:30 p.m. Christmas day with the hopes of filling souls as well as stomachs.

Donations from various businesses in Thomasville provided all the supplies needed to ensure this a successful community dinner. If you'd like to help serve or cook on Christmas day, contact Thomasville's Community Resource Center at 229-226-5846.
