TALLAHASSEE -- A visit from some out-of-towners instigated Tallahassee's mayor to proclaim Wednesday, January 23, 2008 as "International Friendship Day."
A group of visitors from Japan are in Tallahassee for the week. It's part of the American Council of Young Political Leaders, headed up by commissioner Andrew Gillum. The Japanese group has been in town since Sunday touring around town, visiting FSU, the capitol building, and popping in on Wednesday city commission meeting with the help of an interpreter.
One of the delegates, Yasuhiro Masujima, indicated the most memorable experience the group had was the Martin Luther King Jr. Day ceremony at the state capitol building on Monday.
The delegation plans to meet with Florida's CFO, Alex Sink, and Governor Charlie Crist before they head on to Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
