Tallahassee Officer Shooting Trial Set to Start Next Week

Twenty-four-year-old Robert Baker was shot outside a Tallahassee doctor's office back in September 2002.

Officers on scene say Baker was striking cars with an umbrella, and despite trying to subdue him with pepper spray and rubber bullets, they say Baker wrestled away one of their batons and was promptly shot.

Court records show Baker spent more than a year at the state mental hospital before being found competent to stand trial.

He faces several counts of battery on a law enforcement officer. Jury selection in the case starts Monday.
