The small coastal community of Medart, Florida is the scene of a deadly domestic dispute.
The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office says Kathy Partida Chavez escaped to Medart to avoid her husband, Daniel Chavez. Friends of the wife say she was staying with them when the husband found her Sunday morning.
Witnesses say the couple argued before he stabbed her and himself.
"They were both seriously injured. She was laying on her back on the ground. He was crawling towards her. Officers actually had to physically restrain him and pull him away," said CAPT Jim Griner of the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say Kathy Chavez later died at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. While Daniel Chavez is in stable condition, deputies say he'll be charged with his wife's murder. This case is still under investigation by the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office.
