Experts say it's time to get active and make more civilians safety-minded, no matter what the situation.

"Just recently our fire department went through a safety program with Norfolk Southern that was a result of the train derailment we had a few months ago. There are a lot of corporate service providers who have these safety programs and we've asked them to come in and provide demonstrations to our public."

The demonstrations will be part of the Lowndes County Safety Expo on September 10. Folks like forestry ranger Buck Kline will show folks how to prevent dangerous situations.

By using realistic safety demonstrations, organizers hope to teach people, both children and adults, how important it is to be safety minded. The pay off for preparing organizers hope will be accidents prevented and lives saved.

Organizers hope to make the Safety Expo a regular event, by attracting different safety experts in the coming years.
