Mothers Against Drunk Driving and other groups are urging state legislators to pass stronger DUI laws.
Advocates announced the Grace Redgate law today.
It is named after a child who was killed by a drunk driver.
The proposed law would require all first time DUI offenders who register a .105 or higher to use an ignition interlock device before starting their cars.
MADD National President Glynn Birch says, "it will have a shorter license suspension period to where he can get his license back, be able to drive the car, get you back and forth to work, but in the mean time our word ways are safe because we don't have a impaired driver."
Victim's mother Anna Redgate says, "this is how I parent my daughter now, that privilege was taken from me by a DUI offender nearly four times the legal limit a repeat offender who was known to chronically drink and drive so it is an honor.
MADD also honored more than 400 law enforcement officers for their dedication to stop and prevent drunk driving.
