Everglades Restoration Update

Scientists say too much rain and high water caused a drop in wading bird nests this year in the Florida Everglades.

According to the South Florida Wading Bird Report, heavy rains disrupted the birds' foraging for food. The report's release was timely.

Monday, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush announced plans to restore the grassy marshlands and nearby Lake Okeechobee somewhat to their pristine past.

Lake Okeechobee is a very important source of drinking water for much of south Florida.
