To help curb this deadly statistic, the Tallahassee Senior Citizen Center hosted a safe driving workshop Monday, geared towards elderly drivers.
Seniors who are still behind the wheel were invited to have their cars checked for safety and see how well their cars fit them.
Homer Cantrell has been driving since 1937 and thought he could use a refresher course on driver’s ed.
Homer says, "Well, to see if I am doing everything right, left anything out."
Fran Carlin-Rogers of the American Society on Aging says, "Need a lot of public education so they will know the risks, and tell them about interventions we have been talking about."
Besides the safety inspections, a host of agencies set up booths with valuable information for seniors who are making the transition from the driver’s to the passenger’s seat.
