The Leon County volunteer firefighters were demonstrating their lifesaving skills.
They held a "Fire Truck Roundup" at the West Side Home Depot. They named Lisa Bujack the volunteer firefighter of the year.
Bujack is one of about 80 volunteer firefighters who primarily serve the unincorporated areas of Leon County at six different fire departments.
After winning the award, Bujack stated, "It's always in the back of my mind that you know I love it so much that maybe I should do it full-time, but really there's a special kind of feeling to volunteering. It really makes me feel good to be a volunteer and I really love my department, so I think probably for now I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing."
Volunteer firefighters are required to complete a training program before serving. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter, you can call Volunteer Leon at (850) 921-3015.
