Two pageant titles were up for grabs in one combined competition in Tallahassee on Saturday.
Sixteen women vied for the titles of Miss Tallahassee and Miss North Florida Fair. The winners were selected in a pageant held at Lee Auditorium on FAMU's campus.
Contestants are judged in the categories of interview, talent, evening gown, swimsuit and on-stage questions.
The regional Miss Florida director, Martha Dewitt, says, "This program is, like I said, a preliminary to Miss America, which is the largest scholarship foundation in the world for young women. This past year alone, they gave over $50 million in scholarships."
After a few hours of competition, Erin Lancaster captured the title of Miss Tallahassee, while Amy Maddox is the new Miss North Florida Fair.
Both women will go on to compete in the Miss Florida pageant. WCTV's own Art Myers was one of the judges in the competition.
