Target practice, archery and boiled peanuts were the right ingredients for another successful "Boyd Family Charity Dove Hunt and Dinner," all taking aim to improve the lives of some local youth.

The annual event is hosted by U.S. Congressman Allen Boyd and his family at their north Florida sod farm.

U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd, (D) North Florida, says, "Some of them go to the fields to hunt doves, others will be here shooting skeet and hay riding and fishing, just enjoying the outdoors on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and of course the proceeds from this event go to a local charity."

The charity event raises money for a different local youth agency each year. This year's proceeds go to Capitol City Youth Services.

Stacy Gromatski, Executive Director of Capitol City Youth Services, says, "We're so grateful to all the sponsors and everyone that's showing up to support us, and also it helps get our name out there."

Event participant Tony Brown shares, "It's a beautiful day. It's a great day to bring families together, lots of hunting enthusiasts out here together for a terrific cause. I'm glad to be a part of it. I'm glad to be helping Capitol City Youth Services today."

It’s a day of fun for participants that is extra special, knowing that their involvement will benefit local youth. Those in attendance were treated to dinner and a bonfire.
