Obesity concerns are prompting schools around the nation, including Leon County, to oust the soda in favor of milk vending machines, making the milkman a popular person.
Tim Tankersley says, "This year we are offering all flavors of milk, low fat, chocolate strawberry to regular."
Encouraged by a milk industry study that shows more kids drink milk when it comes in round containers, a growing number of schools are ditching the cardboard.
Already more than 1,200 schools across the country have switched to the single serving bottles, and whatever Leon County is doing, it seems to be working.
School leaders hope pushing pop out to make room for milk will turn the tide on the obesity trend. In the coming weeks school leaders hope to compare the sale of from the first two weeks of school this year and last year.
