Members of a local campus police department are riding high into the future.
Tallahassee Community College's Police Department has just received a new segway human transporter for patrolling duties.
The segway gets up to 12 miles per hour and was purchased by the college as a solution to high gas prices.
A few officers gave it a whirl and liked the feel of it.
"It will increase the contacts between the officers and the students, faculty and staff. It actually works well for inside campus, being that it was designed to operate on sidewalks, with pedestrian traffic," says TCC Police Chief Van Greene.
Green hopes this is only the first of more segways to come. Each one comes with a $5,000 price tag.
