A gunpoint carjacking winds up with a crash as Tallahassee police try to make an arrest early Tuesday morning.
Michael Peters' run from the law came to an abrupt end near the corner of Railroad and Pensacola.
His car went airborne and crashed into the back of the Turnbull Center at FSU. He was caught by police dogs soon afterward. Peters was wanted for stealing that car at gunpoint Sunday night.
OFC John Newland with the Tallahassee Police Department says, "It's a violent felony, so in those types of crimes we are allowed to pursue. If it was just a stolen car, no we wouldn't. Seeing how it was a forcible felony, we were able to pursue this car."
Peters is accused of armed carjacking, fleeing from police and more. They say he bummed a ride from a man at FSU's Alumni Village Sunday night and then forced him out at gunpoint.
