Here’s a heads-up for motorists whose commute takes them through downtown Tallahassee.
A stretch of Calhoun Street directly behind the Leon County Courthouse will be closed for the next few weeks. Construction crews are stretching critical lines and cables to the new courthouse annex across the street.
Jennie Khoen, Leon County spokeswoman, says, "Calhoun Street will be closed, so we can connect the computer network from the courthouse and the phone system for the courthouse to the courthouse annex, which is the Bank of America building. This is another step in the process to move some of our services."
Offices like the supervisor of elections and property appraiser will be moved to the new building in waves as the county builds four new courtrooms in the main courthouse to handle booming caseloads.
