Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson gives Megan Baughman of Altha the check for growing one of the state's biggest cabbages by a third grader.
It's part of a nationwide program to teach children about agriculture.
Charles Bronson, Florida Agriculture Commissioner, says, "To understand what it is to grow it from the seed all the way up to maturity and what it takes to be a farmer more or less. I think it's very important for them to understand that whether they get into the farming industry or not."
Megan's mother is a member of the Army National Guard and her unit is set to deploy for Iraq next week. She asked the event be held Tuesday so she could be there.
