Gov. Jeb Bush, who's urged Floridians to conserve gasoline and participate in other energy-saving measures following Hurricane Katrina, seems to be doing his part in that effort.
Bush was being driven Friday in a Ford Escape Hybrid, a considerably smaller SUV than the Ford Expedition he'd previously been shuttled around in. The hybrid was secured from the state's Department of Environmental Protection fleet, and combines electric and gas power.
The hybrid vehicle can get about 36 miles per gallon in highway usage, or about double what the larger SUV necessitated.
“This baby makes more sense,'' the governor said.
