A Woodville woman is under arrest, accused of starving her horses. Four horses were removed from her home, and the woman was arrested for animal cruelty. The horse’s rib cages were extremely visible and their backs were sunken in.
Leon County Animal Control officials say they received several complaints that led to the discovery of these malnourished horses.
Now these horses are thriving in Leon County's care, a fourth horse was in such poor health it had to be euthanized.
Sheriff’s deputies began working with animal control on the case, which led to an arrest.
Ward is currently free on a $10,000 bond, and awaiting trial.
She told investigators she simply couldn't afford to take care of the horses any longer.
