School Superintendent Bill Montford has asked all principals and district staff to look for vacancies. That includes bus drivers, lunchroom workers and teachers.
So far, the district has extended employment offers to two teachers displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
Bill Montford says, "We have some evacuees in our system, need them and they need assistance, so it is a good match."
Laverne Price, a displaced teacher, says, "It is a great opportunity for educators who want to help children and teach them. The children are our future."
Laverne Price is a veteran New Orleans educator. She hopes get back into a classroom in the Tallahassee area.
