Tallahassee Community College helped host a nationwide teleconference organized by the Pre-K Now advocacy group.
One local educator says the program in Florida could have been more successful if more parents had received earlier notice when the program was implemented this past legislative session.
Jeanne Barker with early childhood education at Tallahassee Community College explains, "Many people had already planned to do other things with their four-year-old children, and committed to preschools ahead of the Pre-K program. As a result, I think our enrollment will increase in the second semester. I also think they will increase this summer."
Barker says Pre-K is a good step to kindergarten and helps make learning fun.
